For 2016 Husqvarna has made a lot of changes to there model line ups including the 2 stroke line, showing that they are not only continuing to produce 2 strokes but they are also continuing to develop these models at the very highest standard for top level racing which is almost unheard of for the various other motorcycle manufactures.

You can expect massive weight reductions, not just from the new frame and smaller engine dimensions, but also because the previous Polymide plastic subframe, a nod to Husaberg, has been replaced by a more traditional aluminum design.

The high performing and well-proven TC125 has been on the market and at the front of the field since the re-branding of the manufacturer. For 2016 this bike is even better. Powered by a lighter and all-new high performance 2-stroke engine, with a power valve and 6-speed gearbox fitted in a new state-of-the-art chassis, the TC125  will remain a favourite among young riders. Once again this lower capacity 2-stroke machine will set a new benchmark in the 125 cm³ class world wide.

The bike is pretty much all new but some of the biggest changes are coming from within the engine.

ENGINE

Engine With Die Cast Casings

The newly developed 125 cm³ engine for 2016 features a completely new architecture with the latest KTM engineering know-how and the most advanced technology in the class. The result is that it produces better power all over the rev range, it is with 17.2 kg more than 2 kg lighter than the predecessor and it is much more compact. The benefit for the rider will be reflected in faster lap times due to better rideability and higher performance.

Cylinder

2016 Husqvarna TC 125 Changes
Cylinder

Within the cylinder the heart of the new engine is a newly designed cylinder that has a bore of 54 mm. Apart from reworked ports, it features a newly developed power valve unit with a sophisticated mechanism for the lateral support exhaust ports. Together with a new two-component cylinder head, this is the key for a massive performance increase over the entire range.  Even though it is 360 g lighter and more compact than the previous model, the new layout of the water jackets in the cylinder and head guarantee a better heat dissipation, which is important when the going gets tough..

DIE-CAST ENGINE CASES

For the latest engine generation the engineers designed all new die-cast engine cases featuring a 27 mm higher clutch shaft and 37 mm higher crankshaft position, which has resulted in better mass centralization for improved rideability. In addition, the engine body is much more compact and this contributes massively to the weight reduction (600 g lighter).

PISTON

Piston

The new 125 piston is optimized for maximal reliability and the reworked shape fits perfectly to the new cylinder layout.

NEW CRANK SHAFT

Crank

The new crankshaft provides the same stroke of 54.5 mm as in the past, but it features an optimized balancing for minimum vibration while being 50grams lighter.

TRANSMISSION

2016 Husqvarna TC 125 Changes
Transmission 6 Speed

A new 6-speed transmission provides the same gear ratios as the previous model, but due to the latest production technologies the width could be reduced by 6 mm and the weight reduced by 200 g. An advanced “NO-DIRT” gear lever design prevents dirt from blocking the joint of the lever guaranteeing safe activation of the transmission.

Chassis

A new chassis has been designed to fit the new lighter more powerful power plant and has even been thought out so well that they even managed a weight saving with it to.

Subframe

The plastic subframe that we saw on the previous two generations of the Husqvarna has been swapped out for a more traditional aluminium design.
