MX Nationals At Canada Heights

On the weekend the Michelin Mx nationals held their final round of the championship for the 2015 season at the hillside circuit Canada Heights in Kent just on the southern side of the Dartford bridge. Plenty rain fell in the week leading up to the event and most of the riders were expect a washout even with fantastic weather forecast for the two days of racing. On arrival on the Saturday morning the track looked to be in near perfect conditions which appeared to be very misleading once qualifying started.

The GH Motorcycles G&B Finch race team had team rider Brad Woodroffe competing this weekend at the Michelin mx nationals in the MX Expert Cup Class. Qualifying on the Saturday would determine your gate pick for the whole weekend so it was important to try put a good lap together. This proved to be a bit more difficult for Brad Woodroffe in his qualifying session as the track ended up being very sloppy and deep under its perfect looking surface, which unfortunately made the track very one lined and difficult to get a clear lap in the session. Brad did manage to end up posting the 7th quickest lap time which wasn’t ideal but it would be good enough for a good gate pick as the start is fairly fair.

Race 1 on the Saturday saw Brad not get the greatest jumps put the gate but managed to slot into 6th coming out of turn 2. With the track being still very wet and only one main dry line Brad only managed to make 2 passes over the 25 minute race and finish 4th. Race 2 was a lot more chaotic for the GH Motorcyles G&B Finch rider as he came together with another rider on the first lap and went down. He then got up and passed his way back up to 3rd on the drying circuit before over jumping a jump and running straight on in the next turn ending up in the chestnut fencing. He rejoined the race in 9th and then worked his way back up to 5th by race end.

On the Sunday things ran a lot smoother for Brad Woodroffe as the track was now in perfect racing condition for day two. Brad managed to get two good starts on the day and rode to two podium finishes with a 3rd and 2nd place ending the weekend on a good note showing some good speed and consistency ready for the final round of Eastern Centre championships at Wattisfield Hall this weekend.
