After a successful launch of the WR250F and the announcement of the brand new WR450F, there is also good news for 2-stroke fans as Yamaha will be launching a new 250 2-stroker for the 2016 season. Many of you will be aware that the YZ250X cross-country model was introduced in the North American market in summer 2015, and in recognition of the continued strong demand for 2-stroke enduro bikes, this model will be also be available in Europe. This new competition model will feature a European enduro specification, and will adopt the acclaimed WR250 name. Taking its base technology from the renowned YZ250 motocrosser, the enduro variation adopts various important features to assure serious enduro competition performance.

ENGINE With its explosive power combined with an easy to use character, the WR250’s engine has been developed for enduro, and this has been achieved by the fitment of a modified cylinder head, as well as a new YPVS and CDI. The WR250 2-stroke is also equipped with a wide ratio 5-speed transmission as well as an enduro exhaust system.

CHASSIS Equipped with an MX derived lightweight aluminium frame, the new WR250 2- stroke is fitted with an 18-inch rear wheel and Metzeler 6 Days Extreme tyres, while the latest KYB® air-oil separation (AOS) type front forks and the link-type Monocross rear suspension feature enduro-specific settings.

KYB® Air-Oil-Separate (AOS) front forks with dedicated enduro settings In the motocross world, the Yamaha YZ450F’s Air-Oil-Separate (AOS) front forks are widely regarded as being amongst the very best designs available today. By keeping the air and oil in separate chambers, these high-tech forks help to prevent cavitation for more stable damping performance and predictable handling characteristics.
