Tough Weekend @ The British Masters

British Masters Brad Woodroffe

GH Motorcycles G&B Finch Race Update British Masters

This past weekend saw the Pirelli British masters take place at Foxhills motocross track in Swindon. The famous hard pack track with enormous hills to race up and down saw two of our team riders take part in the event. We had young Tom Murphy who races the Husqvarna TC85 and Brad Woodroffe who was on the Husqvarna FC350 in their respective classes.

Tom Murphy had racing over both days Saturday/Sunday and although only 1 qualifying session would take place which would end up being his gate pick for the weekend. Tom got off to a good start early on and managed to qualify 8th fastest in the small wheel 85cc class. Race 1 had Tom out the gate good and inside the top ten where he would eventually end up finishing 8th in race 1. Tom Murphy was doing all the jumps on the foxhills circuit which is an achievement on its own on a TC85 machine at such a tender age. Race 2 had Tom have a similar race to race 1 with a good start and doing all the jumps comfortably but Tom lacked a bit of aggression on the day according to his dad Gary and unfortunately that resulted in a few riders slipping by, although Tom still managed a 9th.

On the Sunday morning saw the Pro class go out straight away onto the circuit for their first session of the weekend which had team rider Brad Woodroffe in. The circuit got heavily watered over night which made for a very slippery surface in qualifying and Brad was only able to post the 20th fastest time. In race 1 Brad Woodroffe rode better than he did in qualifying but was still not his usual self and could only manage a 10th. In race 2 Brad rode the best that he had all day and was really in the mix with some top riders but unfortunately pushed too hard and lost the front end which damaged the front brake lever and throttle grip. brad remounted and ended up 10th by race end.

Tom Murphy only Managed to have 1 race on the Sunday as the rest of the day got cancelled after the track became too dangerous but in Toms one and only race on Sunday he put in a consistent 8th giving him 9th overall for the weekend.

It was a tough weekend for both riders as they both weren’t firing on all cylinders but they both did the best that they could and left in one piece ready to race another day and get back to there true form they have shown all season.
