POWERFUL ENGINE
The RM-Z’s 249cc, 4-stroke, fuel-injected, DOHC engine, extracts maximum performance out of the RM-Z250’s powerplant, including a large air filter intake aperture and straighter outlet to the throttle bodies for maximum airflow; a cylinder head intake and exhaust ports designed to improve combustion efficiency and increase fuel pressure for enhanced fuel/air atomisation; a direct throttle linkage for better feel, all designed to deliver the best possible power across the board..
CYLINDER HEAD AND INJECTORS
The cylinder head intake and exhaust ports are designed for optimum combustion efficiency and increased fuel pressure for enhanced fuel/air atomisation, combined with intake and exhaust port tuning and crankcase design to achieve the best possible output.
The RM-Z250’s fuel injection system features two injectors. Instead of using a single injector that can compromise low-end fueling in order to supply enough fuel for top-end power, the primary injector delivers precise low-rpm fueling while a secondary injector at higher rpm provides the extra fuel needed.
THROTTLE BODIES
The RM-Z250 benefits from the latest throttle body design, with a straighter outlet for more airflow.
EXHAUST SYSTEM
The exhaust pipe of the RM-Z250 is an optimal length, with the internal diameter tapering from ø35mm at the cylinder head to ø45mm at the silencer to ensure the best performance from the 249cc motor.
CHASSIS
The frame and swingarm use aluminium spars changing to a hollow square section that does away with an internal rib, allowing for reduced mass while increasing torsional rigidity for better stability and bump absorption.
KYB FRONT FORKS
The KYB coil spring fork features a unique design that provides a progressive damping setup offering excellent compliance over small bumps while firming up deeper into the stroke to handle bigger hits such as harsh jump landings. Upper and lower triple clamp design has been optimised for rigidity while cutting excess mass.
KYB REAR SHOCK
Out back, the rear suspension linkage ratio is optimised to firm up short stroke movement while ensuring longer suspension action for better traction, and minimal weight.
STRONG STOPPING POWER
All of the RM-Z250’s speed potential won’t help if you can’t keep the “Stop” portion of the performance triangle balanced, so for the RM-Z250’s front brakes we use a disc diameter of 270mm and the brake pad material gives a linear response characteristics as you brake harder.
AGGRESSIVE STYLING
The RM-Z250 maintains Suzuki’s distinctive “Beak DNA” styling. Intended to convey the brand’s heritage of speed in our off-road bikes, the front fender and radiator shroud are arranged to form a straight line, with the sharp and edgy angles expressing a feeling of dynamic speed. Like the RM-Z450, the RM-Z250 is finished in the Team Suzuki off-road colours of yellow with blue accents, making the RM-Z lineup easily recognisable.
ADVANCED RIDER TECHNOLOGY
The RM-Z250 is equipped with some of the most advanced rider technology available, including our latest Suzuki Hole-shot Assist Control (S-HAC) system and latest generation traction management system.
SUZUKI HOLE-SHOT ASSIST CONTROL (S-HAC)
The RM-Z250’s S-HAC monitors throttle position and gear position in order to adjust ignition timing for maximum acceleration through the three critical stages of a motocross start: the exact moment of launch, getting over the starting gate, and then powering up the start straight. Three settings are available, with A- mode intended for harder surfaces where controlling wheelspin is paramount, B- mode for normal dirt conditions with good traction, and an “off” setting.
TRACTION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
The ECM monitors the throttle position, engine speed and gear position. This data is used to control ignition timing, adjust the fuel injection rate and control engine output to optimise traction to help match the riding conditions as best as possible. These help controllability to take the rider one step closer to winning races.
